Kristin Sanchez is a woman who wears many hats—and she makes it look effortless. As a full-time lifestyle and entertainment host for NBC 6’ South Florida Live, a wife, a mom of three, and an entrepreneur, she’s mastered the art of multitasking without breaking a sweat. With accolades like Best TV News Anchor of 2024 by Miami New Times and Best Talk Show Host by Fort Lauderdale Magazine, Kristin shines both on-screen and off. In this fun chat with Miami Vibes, Kristin spills the tea on how she balances it all, what keeps her going, and the wildest moments from her TV career that prepped her for the unpredictable world of business.
How do you transition from being a dynamic TV personality to a powerhouse entrepreneur? Navigating the dual roles of a TV personality and entrepreneur has been a deeply fulfilling journey for me, as both roles complement each other perfectly. As a full-time lifestyle and entertainment host for South Florida Live and a mom of three, building a brand that reflects my values has always been a priority. This year, I was honored by Miami New Times as the Best TV News Anchor of 2024 and recognized as the Best Talk Show Host by Fort Lauderdale Magazine. These recognitions mean the world to me, but what drives me is my connection to the community I love.
I stay involved by attending events that support local causes, showing up not just as a TV personality but as a figure invested in South Florida. In addition to hosting, I’m also part of my family’s luxury transportation company, Clique Lux, which has been a family-owned business in New York for over 40 years and has expanded into South Florida. This venture is close to my heart—balancing motherhood, TV, and entrepreneurship has allowed me to build something that honors my family’s legacy while contributing to the community I’m passionate about.
Is there a moment from your TV career that perfectly prepared you for the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship? One moment that really prepared me for the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship was covering live segments for South Florida Live. Anything can happen on live TV, and I’ve had my fair share of surprises. One standout memory was when Marlon Wayans, known for White Chicks, decided to kick off his interview with an unexpected front flip onto the set! It was a true test of my ability to adapt quickly and stay composed when I was completely surprised.
On the flip side, interviewing Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, with her poised and iconic presence, required a different kind of adaptability. I had to smoothly transition from high energy to a more refined and thoughtful pace. And talking with Jessica Alba about balancing motherhood with a successful career showed me the importance of connecting on a personal level.
These experiences taught me to think on my feet and adjust to any situation—skills that have proven incredibly valuable in my entrepreneurial journey. Whether I’m dealing with surprises on live TV or navigating curveballs in business, I’ve learned to stay calm and adaptable. But it’s not just about handling challenges; making genuine connections and networking effectively has been crucial too. I always strive to remember faces and details from our conversations, showing people that I’m truly listening and valuing their input. This approach has helped me build strong relationships and handle the ups and downs of running a business with grace, poise, and a touch of humor.
What motivates you to keep pushing forward, especially on days when things get tough? Any morning rituals or mantras that set the tone for your day? My biggest motivator is my family. Being a mom to three, including twins, gives me all the drive I need! I kick off my day at 5:30 AM with a bit of yoga, Pilates, or a run—whatever I’m in the mood for. It’s my quiet time to get centered before the whirlwind of work and family starts.
At the end of the day, everything I do is for my kids. I want to show my son that a woman can juggle motherhood, a career, and a social life, and still make it all work. For my girls, I want to be a living example that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. My mantra is pretty straightforward: "Be present, be intentional, and remember why you started." It helps me stay grounded and focused, no matter what the day throws at me.
What’s your favorite Miami hotspot to unwind after a long day of running your business? Any go-to spots where you brainstorm your next big idea? Choosing just one favorite spot to unwind is tough because Miami has so many great places! I love Evelyn’s at the Four Seasons in Fort Lauderdale for a relaxed, elegant atmosphere. When I'm in the mood for a livelier scene, I head to Miami and check out Catch or Watr at the 1 Hotel. These spots have great food and a vibrant atmosphere.
If you could create a reality show based on your entrepreneurial journey, what would it be called, and what would be the highlight of the first episode? If I could create a reality show about my entrepreneurial journey, it would be called Balancing Act. The first episode would show a day in my life, where I juggle hosting a live TV show, managing family life, and running our luxury transportation company, Clique Lux. People would get a look at the process of preparing for major TV segments, handling unexpected challenges, and balancing family moments.
What’s the biggest risk you’ve taken in your journey so far, and how did it pay off? The biggest risk I’ve taken was making the switch from being a news and traffic anchor and reporter for nearly a decade to pursuing a career in lifestyle and entertainment. It felt like a significant leap because it was venturing into unfamiliar territory for me. Changing my on-air role in 2023 meant stepping away from something I knew well and into a new area where I had to start from scratch.
The reward has been incredibly fulfilling. I’m truly enjoying the process of exploring this new facet of broadcasting. It’s not only expanded my skills but also allowed me to connect with audiences in new and exciting ways. Embracing this change has reaffirmed my belief that taking risks can lead to rewarding growth and new opportunities.
If you could have any superpower to help you in your business ventures, what would it be and why? If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to clone myself—one Kristin managing a business, another at home with my kids, and a third taking meetings or doing interviews. It would allow me to be everywhere I need to be without compromise. I would love to have the time to make sure each aspect of my life gets the attention it deserves. With this superpower, I could balance my entrepreneurial responsibilities with family time and professional commitments, making every day more productive and fulfilling.
Where do you see your brand in the next five years, and what’s one bold prediction you have for the future of entrepreneurship in Miami? In five years, I see my brand really expanding in the broadcast world. I’d love to keep hosting a lifestyle and entertainment show, but with a twist—covering big events from the red carpet around the globe. It would be amazing to bring those glamorous moments to viewers in a new way.
I also want to stay active in the community, emceeing and hosting events throughout South Florida. And on the business side, I’m excited to see Clique Lux grow even more and become a major name in luxury transportation.
As for a bold prediction, I think Miami will continue to grow as a hotspot for innovative entrepreneurship, with even more exciting startups and creative businesses making an impact on the global stage.
As someone who juggles multiple roles, what’s your secret to balancing it all without dropping the ball (or your sanity)?Balancing multiple roles requires strategy and flexibility. My secret is staying organized and making time for what really matters. I depend on a detailed schedule and set clear priorities for both work and family life - I never go anywhere without my planner.
One of the biggest helps is setting boundaries—making sure I set up specific times for work, family, and self-care. I also make sure to carve out moments for myself, whether it’s a quiet morning routine or a quick catch-up with friends.
Being present in the moment, whether I’m working or spending time with my family, helps me stay focused and reduces stress. It’s all about finding that balance and being kind to myself when things don’t always go as planned. And, of course, having a supportive family, husband, and team makes a huge difference!
What kind of legacy do you hope to leave behind? How do you want people to remember your contributions? I hope to leave behind a legacy that says, "You can do it all." I’ve always been the type to take on a lot and push through challenges. For example, when I took on the role of lifestyle and entertainment host for South Florida Live, it felt like a major milestone in my career. At the same time, I was balancing personal challenges—my son was about to turn two, and I had just learned I was expecting twins. Instead of letting these demands overwhelm me, I used them as motivation to push forward and thrive.
Even while on maternity leave, I stayed active by attending and hosting, which helped my brand stay relevant. I also managed to win Best TV Host titles during that time. I want people to remember my contributions as a testament to resilience, passion, and balance. My goal is to show that you don’t have to be put into a box—being a mom doesn’t mean you can’t have a career, and being a wife doesn’t mean you can’t pursue your passions. I want to inspire people to see that they can balance multiple roles and achieve their goals if they truly want to.
