GOAT Hospitality Group Founder, Derek Gonzalez + His Inclusivity Mission
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. The founder of GOAT Hospitality Group, Derek Gonzalez, is one of South Florida’s largest employers for individuals with special abilities in the hospitality sector. Down Syndrome awareness is near and dear to him as his Aunt Pilo passed from complications from the condition but her influence lives on in every concept under the brand. In 2017 he opened his first restaurant Pilo's Street Tacos in honor of his Aunt Pilo.
His mission is simple: to be the largest employer of individuals with special abilities. Since 2017, Derek has launched an additional three restaurant concepts and is slated to have a total of 10 operational concepts by next year.
