Black Eyed Peas, Jhay Cortez, Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga, Eslabón Armado, Karol G, Maluma, Maná, Prince Royce, The Weeknd, Aventura, Christian Nodal, Daddy Yankee, Grupo Firme, J Balvin, J. Rey Soul, Kali Uchis, Lenin Ramirez, Los Legendarios, Myke Towers, Ozuna, Romeo Santos, Shakira, and Tainy were also among the winners of the awards ceremony that paid tribute to Paquita la del Barrio, Daddy Yankee and Maná, and offered a moving performance in homage to Juan Gabriel.

 

Urban music star Bad Bunny was the big winner at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards, taking home 10 of the 22 awards for which he was a finalist, including: Artist of the Year, and Hot Latin Song of the Year for "Dákiti" and Album of the Year for YHLQMDLG. Broadcast live on Telemundo from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida, the show paid well-deserved tributes to Mexico's Paquita la del Barrio, who was awarded the Billboard Lifetime Achievement award, renowned band Maná, who was recognized with the new Billboard Icon award, and global star Daddy Yankee, who was bestowed with the Billboard Hall of Fame award.

The Black Eyed Peas, invigorated by Latin rhythms, won Latin Pop Song of the Year for their song "Mamacita" and Sales Song of the Year for “Ritmo (Bad Boys For Life)”as well as Crossover Artist of the Year. Jhay Cortez garnered his three awards with Bad Bunny for "Dákiti," receiving Hot Latin Song of the Year, Hot Latin Song Vocal Event and Streaming Song of the Year.

Representing the women is Colombia's Karol G, who took home two awards in the categories of Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Female and Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Female. Other artists who were also honored with two awards each include Maluma and Canadian artist The Weeknd who won in the categories of Latin Airplay Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year with the song "Hawaii"; Maná, who were honored for Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and the Billboard Icon award; while Prince Royce was recognized for Tropical Song of the Year with "Carita Inocente" and Tropical Album of the Year for Alter Ego.

In the Regional Mexican genre, Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga was honored with two awards in the categories of Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and Regional Mexican Artist, Duo or Group, while Eslabón Armado won in Top Latin Album Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and Regional Mexican Album of the Year for Tu Veneno Mortal.

The ceremony was hosted by renowned Latin music and acting stars William Levy, Gaby Espino, Pedro Fernandez, and Maite Perroni, while a star-studded list of celebrities presented the awards.

Other award winners included Aventura (Tropical Artist of the Year, Duo or Group), Christian Nodal (Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Solo), Daddy Yankee (Billboard Hall of Fame), Grupo Firme (Regional Mexican Song of the Year for "Yo Ya No Vuelvo Contigo"), J Balvin (Sales Song of the Year for "Ritmo (Bad Boys For Life)"), J. Rey Soul (Latin Pop Song of the Year for "Mamacita"), Kali Uchis (Latin Pop Album of the Year for Sin Miedo (Del Amor y Otros Demonios)), Lenin Ramirez (Regional Mexican Song of the Year for "Ya No Vuelvo Contigo"), Los Legendarios (Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year, Duo or Group), Myke Towers (Artist of the Year, New), Ozuna (Latin Pop Song of the Year for "Mamacita"), Paquita la del Barrio (Billboard Lifetime Achievement), Romeo Santos (Tropical Artist of the Year, Solo), Shakira (Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Solo) and Tainy (Producer of the Year).

The awards show featured 26 singers and dozens of dancers on stage presenting 20 electrifying performances, including:

  1. Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga & Christian Nodal performed the world premiere of their song "La Sinvergüenza."

  2. Camila Cabello sang her new song "Don't Go Yet."

  3. Carlos Rivera hit the stage with Reik for the world premiere of "Cuantas Veces."

  4. Carlos Vives sang for the first time with his daughter Lucy Vives, accompanied by Mau y

    Ricky in the song "Besos en Cualquier Horario."

  5. Daddy Yankee performed his new hit "Métele al Perreo" in a television premiere.

  6. Guadalupe Pineda, Yuri, and Ana Bárbara commemorated the 5th anniversary of Juan

    Gabriel's departure with a medley prepared by maestro Eduardo Magallanes, including "Se Me Olvidó Otra Vez," "Abrázame Muy Fuerte," "Te Sigo Amando," "Me Nace del Corazón" and "Amor Eterno."

  7. Jhay Cortez sang the TV premiere of "En Mi Cuarto".

  8. Joss Favela performed a mariachi version of his new hit "Tu Adiós Como Tequila."

  9. Juanes performed the rock version of Grupo Niche's hit "Rebelión," one of the 50 most

    important Latin songs of all time.

  10. Karol G performed a medley including "El Makinón," "Bichota," "Ay, Dios Mío," and "Tusa."

  11. Maná performed the world premiere of their new single, a previously unreleased version of their

    classic: "El Reloj Cucú", along with new vocal sensation Mabel.

12. Marc Anthony performed the television premiere of his song "Pa'lla Voy."
13. Myke Towers performed a medley including "Pin Pin" and the world premiere of his new song

"Experimento."
14. Natti Natasha performed the television premiere of "Noches en Miami."
15. Nicky Jam performed the TV premiere of "Miami."
16. Paquita la del Barrio celebrated her 50-year musical career singing "Rata de Dos Patas" and

"El Consejo" with Ana Bárbara.

17. Prince Royce performed the TV premiere of "Lao a Lao."
18. Rauw Alejandro sang his summer hit, “Todo de Ti.”
19. Reik and Rauw Alejandro performed the TV premiere of "Loquita." 20. Rosalía sang the new song "Linda" with Tokischa.
