WORLDWIDE PREMIERES RULED THE STAGE AT THE 2022 BILLBOARD LATIN MUSIC AWARDS ON TELEMUNDO

Latin music stars came out last night for the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards, where they took the stage to launch new songs, surprise audiences with unique collaborations, and captivate fans with memorable tributes. The most prestigious Latin music awards show shined on Telemundo with the participation of more than 30 artists and celebrities, and the celebration of the night's biggest winners, including Bad Bunny, Farruko, Karol G, Aventura, Eslabon Armado, Grupo Firme and Rauw Alejandro. Colombian artist Camilo closed the show with a performance of the highly anticipated world premiere of “Aeropuerto Remix,” the official song for Telemundo’s exclusive Spanish-language coverage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 TM . “Aeropuerto Remix” is an adaptation of “Aeropuerto” from recently released album De Adentro Pa' Afuera.
Hosted by international stars Jaime Camil and Kate del Castillo, the show opened with the contagious rhythm and high energy of Ozuna, who got the party started with the television premiere of "La Copa." Calibre 50 followed with "El Mexicano es Ca...."; celebrating the hardworking and fighting spirit of the Mexican people; while Los Ángeles Azules and Carlos Vives combined their Mexican and Colombian flavor to perform "Cumbia del Corazón" and bring everyone to their feet.
Argentinian artist Tini gave a moving performance of her soaring ballad & "Carne y Hueso'" while Colombian artist Manuel Turizo performed his big summer hit "La Bachata." Mexican band Grupo Firme performed its hit song "Ya Supérame" and then joined Colombian artist Camilo to perform “Alaska,” their first collaboration. Farruko followed with the urban sounds of his new "Nazareno" remix, which included a special participation by Ankhal, and then he presented a taste of his upcoming single "Viaje." Piso 21 and Manuel Turizo presented a memorable performance of their new collaboration "Los Cachos."
Without a doubt, some of the most memorable moments of the evening were brought by the special award winners. Chayanne received the Billboard Icon Award and delighted audiences with the world premiere of his new song "Como Tú Y Yo;” Christina Aguilera was honored with the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award and sang her response to José Alfredo Jiménez' classic "El Rey" with "La Reina." Spanish star Raphael was recognized with the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award and was joined by Pablo López, and CNCO for a medley of his greatest hits, including "Mi Gran Noche," "Estar Enamorado" & "Como Yo Te Amo," "Que Sabe Nadie," and "Escándalo." Additionally, the award-winning artist surprised everyone with the world premiere of "De Tanta Gente."
In one of the most heartfelt segments, urban singer Nicky Jam received the Billboard Hall of Fame Award from his father, Don José Rivera, and performed the television premiere of his hit song "Sin Novia" while José Feliciano was awarded the first Billboard Legend Award. The renowned singer is celebrating 60 years of artistic career with a new documentary that debuts today on Peacock titled "José Feliciano - Behind This Guitar."
Global star Maluma surprised his fans by selecting the stage of the coveted event to perform the worldwide premiere of his new single "Junio." Regional Mexican music returned to the stage with Eslabon Armado, which performed "Hasta La Muerte" from their new album Nostalgia; and in a tribute to his song "Suavemente," tropical artist Elvis Crespo included his merengue version of Bad Bunny's"La Neverita."
The top winners of the awards held at the Watsco Center in Miami, Florida were Bad Bunny with nine awards, including Artist of the Year and Tour of the Year. His album Un Verano Sin Ti was awarded "Top Latin Album" of the Year and "Latin Rhythm" Album of the Year, while his song "Volví" was recognized for Tropical Song of the Year. Farruko’s successful hit “Pepas" received four accolades including Hot Latin Song of the Year; Latin Rhythm Song of the Year; Sales Song of the Year, and Streaming Song of the Year. Karol G led the female artists, with three recognitions for Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event for "Mamiii," Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Female and Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Female.
Artists receiving two awards included Aventura which won Tropical Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and Tropical Song of the Year for "Volví," and Rauw Alejandro who was honored with Latin Airplay Song of the Year and Latin Pop Song of the Year for his hit "Todo de Ti;" additionally in the Regional Mexican genre, Eslabon Armado won Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; Grupo Firme received Regional Mexican Song of the Year for "Ya Supérame (En Vivo Desde Culiacán, Sinaloa)" and Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; and Ivan Cornejo was recognized for Artist of the Year, New and Regional Mexican Album of the Year for Alma Vacía. The list of winners also included Becky G, Christian Nodal, Enrique Iglesias, Maná, Marc Anthony, Romeo Santos, Rosalía, Skrillex, Tainy and Wisin and Yandel.
